No matter it’s sending tokens to someone via metamask or purchasing an NFT on the Opensea, how many of us had performed at least one transaction this year via Ethereum network? According to a report by Solana Foundation in 2021, we saw a jaw-dropping energy consumption of 268.19 kWh per transaction on Ethereum. This is equivalent to the power consumption of an average U.S. household over 9.06 days.

In terms of carbon footage, it emits 149.59 kgCO2, equivalent to 331,543 VISA transactions or 24,932 hours of watching Youtube.

As Blockchain believers, we enjoy all the spirits and benefits this technology can bring to the world. However is PoW an affordable tech to human beings? This is why we establish Greener DAO to encourage projects that help to improve the situation by introducing their brilliant job and investing in them by the DAO-governed funds. If you think your project is on the spot, please email us at ceo@greenerdao.org or ping us on Twitter.
